When it comes to picture power, the Lumix LX5 does not disappoint because it carries 10.1 megapixels worth of quality. This allows you to capture amazingly clear and crisp visuals which can be also be taken at amazing speed (1/10 of a second)! Imagine being able to capture of the beauty of a butterfly’s intricate wing patterns as it stops by for a fleeting moment.

It has an auto-focus feature which makes capturing those moments in splendid detail that much easier. Auto-focus helps you capture better quality photos by automatically adjusting the lens in and out until the sharpest image is obtained. This is a very convenient addition especially for amateur photographers because they will no longer have to manually adjust the lens themselves.

Now what sets the LX5′s auto-focus feature apart from other cameras is that it has a special firmware which helps speed up the AF(auto-focusing) speed. This basically means that you will not experience any sort of lag when you want to shoot something. This can mean the difference between capturing a candid shot just at the right moment, or ending up with lots of nonsense and blurry photos in your memory card.

With auto-focusing turned on, all you have to do is just point the camera to whatever you want to shoot and let it do all of the adjusting for you. Anyone who has a hard time trying to constantly focus his lens while shooting will definitely find this feature to be a God-send.

One gripe that most people have with digital cameras is that their batteriestend to drain a bit too quickly. This is understandably frustrating because no one would ever want to experience having his camera die down on him the moment that he is about to capture an awesome photograph.

Luckily for us, Panasonic has addressed this whole issue by blessing the Lumix LX5 with a longer lasting battery. So you might be wondering just how awesome the LC5′s battery life actually is. Well, to put it simply; it can take up to 400 shots. There is clearly no other digital camera currently out in the market that can boast of such power other than thePanasonic Lumix LX5. 

Capture High Definition Videos

You might often hear people saying that a video is much better when viewed in HD or high definition. For those of you who are not that tech savvy, high definition videos offer brighter and clearer images, as well as better audio quality. This quality is exactly what you can expect from this camera as the Lumix LX5 is capable of capturing videos in full 720p resolution.

This Lumix also carries a convenient feature in its 3.0 inch Intelligent LCD. The thing which makes the LCD “intelligent” is its ability to automatically adjust the screen’s brightness. How it will adjust itself depends entirely on the shooting conditions, and it does all of this in 11 steps. Each “step” accounts for a brightness level and the highest of these 11 steps will make the screen 1.4 times brighter than normal.

This feature is perfect for helping you make sure that the subject that you intend to capture is in the frame.

Panasonic has also stepped it up another notch by adding in Creative Movie mode. This means that you can shoot in manual, program AE, and shutter mode while you have the camera on video mode. This feature allows you to shoot impressive movies and adjust the camera to different lighting situations. Great for when you want to dictate what your audience should be focussing their attention on.

What good would a digital camera that can play HD videos be if it did not have a panorama mode? Now for those of you who are unaware of panoramas, it’s a feature which allows you to take separate shots and “stitch” them together by way of built in software in the camera.

There have been a few notable remarks regarding the Lumix LX5’s panorama mode. Some hardcore photo enthusiasts feel that the LX5’s panorama mode is okay, but it could use a bit of an improvement (we’ll talk more about this in a later post). The panorama mode may not seem like much to the average individual who takes photos for the sake of capturing memorable moments, but for the pros this thing is essential.

Pros and Cons of Lumix LX5

Lumix LX5 is a fantastic digital camera for those who love photography and pursuing image quality. It was announced in July 21st, and it has a thrifty F2.0 Leica DC Vario-Summicron Lens that decreases distortion for astonishing, true-to-life images with great resolution and detail. It has a 1/1.63 high sensitivity 10.1 Megapixel with CCD sensor technology and 3.8x optical zoom, has a raw file capability with a highly develop intelligent auto-mode and it offers a complete manual control of exposure and focus. LX5 has a power O.I.S stabilizer that will allowed you to have steady hand held pictures in extremely low shutter speeds and it gives you a very dynamic range. It also have ±3 EV (at 1/3 EV steps) that gives you the ability to take photos at different exposures which is awesome for both day and night time photography and filming. The Lumix LX5 can also shoot around 400 pictures in one session without the battery running out and that is almost double the battery life of MOST digital compact camera’s in the present day and can be a deal breaker for some. The Panasonic Lumix LX5 also features 720 HD video plus a 12 color modes from the mode dial.

Pros: Can shoot Raw, has FANTASTIC battery life.

Cons: Almost no cons! It is that great!
